I scanned the horizon when I awoke
soon after the dawn had broke.
The morning sun greeted me again
as I pulled the curtain to let it in.
I surveyed what I could see from there
as I gratefully breathed in the air
and was hopeful that somehow today
I too could shine in my own way.
